The Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED course incorporates the latest science and teaches students how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help victims of any age – adults (about 12 years and older) and pediatric (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED valid for two years.  The intended audience for the courses in this program includes lay responders in the workplace and community taking this course to fulfill employment requirements, or to provide for the safety and well-being of their friends, family. and community or for personal satisfaction.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe how to recognize an emergency and gain confidence to act.
  • Explain how to lower the risk for infection when giving care.
  • Understand legal concepts as they apply to lay responders, such as consent.
  • Describe the emergency action steps: CHECK—CALL—CARE.
  • Identify when it is necessary to call 9-1-1 or the designated emergency number.
  • Explain how to check an injured or ill person who appears to be unresponsive.
  • Explain how to check a responsive injured or ill person.
  • Demonstrate high-quality CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for a person who is in cardiac arrest.
  • Demonstrate first aid care for a person who is choking.

This course is approved for credit hours by The Registry, Wisconsin’s Recognition System for the Childhood Care and Education Profession.

Registration:

Class fee is $60 per participant.

Advance registration and payment is required. Register early as classes fill quickly!  Payment by check may be mailed with registration form.  Call if you wish to make payment by credit card.

Cancellation Policy:

We reserve the right to cancel a class. A minimum of 3 participants is required to run a class. In the event that a class would need to be cancelled, due to low enrollment, you will be contacted within a minimum of 3 business days.

In the event of inclement weather, we will attempt to contact you by the telephone number given on your registration form. You may also call Upland Hills Health at (608) 930-8000.

Please remember that there is limited space in these classes and a cost to provide this education to you. Often there is a waiting list of interested participants. If you are unable to attend a class you have registered for, please notify us within 72 hours of the scheduled class to make the space available for another participant. Registration fees may be transferred as credit for other upcoming educational offerings, or a 50% refund issued. There will be a $20 processing fee for transfers & cancellations. There will not be any refund for no shows.
