Colonoscopy

What About Colonoscopies?

Do you need a colonoscopy? If you’re over 45, the short answer is “yes.” Did you know that colon cancer is the No. 2 cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.? And FYI, the risk of getting colon cancer over a lifetime is similar in men and women. But there’s also good news: Colon cancer is highly treatable in 90% of people if caught early.

And how do you catch it early? That’s right: colonoscopy screenings. Even better? During your colonoscopy, if your doctor finds polyps that look suspicious, they are removed — stopping cancer from developing before it starts.

If you’re over 45 or have a family or genetic colon cancer history, you should talk to your doctor and schedule a colonoscopy. At Upland Hills Health, our skilled team will work with you to make sure you’re safe and comfortable during this important procedure. Listen to the podcast with Dr. Patrick Ryberg, general surgeon at Upland Hills Health, who answers many questions you may have, such as what happens during a colonoscopy, what the prep is like, whether there are different types of colon cancer, and much more.

Listen in as Dr. Joseph Berg talks about the impact, safety and effectiveness of vaccines, or what he calls “probably the most important scientific or medical discovery in the past 100 years.”
