Dodgeville Hospital Among Top 44 in the U.S. for Patient Discharge Practices

[Dodgeville] Upland Hills Health Hospital in Dodgeville was recently listed among the Top 44 Hospitals in the United States with the best patient discharge information practices. This list was published by the industry-leading trade publication Becker’s Hospital Review.

“We are very happy to be among the Top 44 hospitals on this list,” commented Lynn Hebgen, MSN-HCQ, RN, and Vice President of Nursing at Upland Hills Health. “To further enhance our discharge instruction for the patients, we have recently added interdisciplinary rounding and discharge phone calls to our processes. Our goal is to climb to the top of this list!”

Hospitals on the list had at least 94 percent of patients reporting they were given information about what to do during their recovery at home. The data taken to compile this list was collected between April 2014 and March 2015 by CMS’ Hospital Compare. One hospital performed at 100%, four at 96%, seven at 95% and the remaining 32 hospitals (including Upland Hills Health) performed at 94%. For reference, the national average rate for providing discharge information is 86 percent, according to Hospital Compare.
