April Allen 2018 UHH Lisa Faherty Bilse “Attitude is Everything” Motivational Nursing Award Winner

Upland Hills Health proudly recognized April Allen, R.N., as the 2018 winner of the Lisa Faherty Bilse Motivational “Attitude is Everything” Nursing Award on September 18, 2018.

The purpose of this award, named for Lisa Faherty Bilse, R.N., Emergency Department Director, who passed away in 2011, is to recognize an Upland Hills Health nurse (RN or LPN) who motivates and communicates effectively and positively with his/her co-workers, patients and visitors at Upland Hills Health. Nominees should have actively demonstrated the ability to motivate others and provide positive communication.

Allen’s nominator wrote, “It is clear that April is vital to the health of not only her patients, but also her co-workers … Her tireless advocacy for her patients and her professional and energetic approach to her craft epitomize how much one’s attitude impacts a work environment, and she has been steadily and consistently enriching the medical floor at Upland Hills for many, many years. April is simply not satisfied unless she is aware of each patient’s story every day. She doesn’t want to miss the thread because she has recognized how important even seemingly small patient care details can be to a patient’s visit. A patient or family concern will not slip through the cracks when April is around.”
