Damond W. Boatwright Joins UHH Board of Trustees

[Dodgeville] Upland Hills Health, Inc. welcomes Damond W. Boatwright to the Board of Trustees. Boatwright will replace Linda Taplin Statz, representative from SSM Health Care of Wisconsin, Madison.
Damond W. Boatwright, FACHE, is the Regional President/CEO of Hospital Operations, SSM Health Care of Wisconsin. In this role, Damond is responsible for overseeing all hospital operations within SSM’s integrated care delivery network in the Wisconsin Region including St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo, St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison and St. Mary’s Janesville Hospital. SSM Health is a St. Louis-based health-care system providing high-quality and compassionate care at hospitals, clinics and nursing homes in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma.
Boatwright is originally from Charleston, S.C. He graduated from The Citadel with a degree in Business Administration and was also a scholarship football player at the military college in Charleston, S.C. Afterward, Boatwright earned his Master’s Degree in Health Administration and Health Sciences from the Medical University of South Carolina – Charleston and went on to complete a health services management fellowship at Duke University Medical Center.
Prior to his arrival at SSM, Damond Boatwright served as CEO of Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Kansas. A 350-bed acute-care hospital and one of the busiest in the Greater Kansas City metropolitan area, Boatwright helped shape patient-centered care delivery there from October 2011 to February 2014. It remains one of the nation’s top performing hospitals on key quality measures by The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading accreditor of health care organizations.
From 2007 – 2011, Boatwright served as the CEO of Lee’s Summit Medical Center, part of HCA Midwest Health System in Missouri. During Boatwright’s leadership, The Joint Commission also named Lee’s Summit Medical Center as one of the nation’s top performing hospitals on key quality measures.
Boatwright started his healthcare career with the Medical University of South Carolina in 1995. During his 14 years within the HCA Healthcare System he served in various capacities including Associate Administrator I/II, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer in several of its Hospitals.
Mr. Boatwright is looking forward to being more actively involved in the local communities and at the state level with the Wisconsin Chapter of American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Through Dean/St. Mary’s, he is also a member of the Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), the state’s chamber of commerce and largest trade association.
In 2010, he was named to the national list of “Hospital and Health System Leaders to Know” in Becker’s Hospital Review and was the recipient of Modern Healthcare’s prestigious “Up and Comer” award in 2009.
The Upland Hills Health Board of Trustees is made up of representatives from SSM Health in Wisconsin, and the communities of Barneveld, Dodgeville, Highland, Hollandale, Mineral Point and Spring Green.
