Dr. Joshua Hess Joins Upland Hills Health Family Medicine Department
A Rewey native, Dr. Hess always saw himself practicing in the rural area he calls home
Dr. Joshua Hess has joined Upland Hills Health Hospital and Clinics as a primary care physician. Dr. Hess grew up on a farm in nearby Rewey. He welcomed the opportunity to return to the area when he saw the open position with Upland Hills Health.
“I always saw myself living and setting up practice in a rural community so this is really a great opportunity for me to help people live their best lives in this area,” Dr. Hess said. “As a family medicine doctor, I can help people of all ages reach their health goals. I have a lot of respect for people who live in rural areas. We don’t want to have to travel to access the care we need. Upland Hills Health knows that. They have built a reputation for providing both high-quality specialty and primary health care and I’m proud to be part of an organization that puts patients first.”
No stranger to Upland Hills Health, Dr. Hess has worked in the hospital as an emergency room technician and certified nursing assistant. It was then he decided that family medicine aligned with his career goal of getting to know and caring for people over their life span.
“I see patients of all ages, from infants to the elderly. I want to get to know them so we can be partners as they age and we can work together to keep them as healthy as possible,” he said. “It’s difficult to admit sometimes that we are sick or not able to do the activities we want to do. I understand that and I meet people where they are to help them move to a better state of health.”
Dr. Hess received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and completed his residency in Family Medicine at Aspirus Wausau Family Medicine. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville.
Dr. Hess will see patients at the Montfort and Mineral Point clinics.
