Esser Achieves Lactation Consultant Certification
[Dodgeville] Michelle Esser, Registered Nurse in the Birthing Unit at Upland Hills Health received her certification after completing a 5-day Certified Lactation Specialist Course earlier this month.
Esser is looking forward to helping new parents with issues relating to lactation, breastfeeding, prenatal care and postpartum care. She will be facilitating a class, followed by a support group next month, December 4th and 8th, at Upland Hills Health. This free class will begin at 6 pm with the support group starting at approximately 7 pm.
In the spring of 2014, Esser intends to lift her certification to the next level by taking the board exam to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). The program Esser recently completed has been approved and is recognized by the Lactation Education Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (LEAARC). It was one of the first programs in the world to be so recognized.
