Grieshaber Earns Rural Health Ambassador Award

Long-time Mineral Point area physician Gordon Grieshaber, M.D. recently received the Rural Health Ambassador Award from the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative.

A sunny lunch hour at Library Park in Mineral Point provided the backdrop for Mineral Point Medical Center of Upland Hills Health staff, and Upland Hills Health administrators, to present the surprise award to Grieshaber.

Dr. Grieshaber, who is retiring at the end of October after more than 25 years serving the Mineral Point community and beyond, mentored countless new staff members, served on many committees through Upland Hills Health, and currently serves as Medical Director for the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation programs at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville.

The nomination described Dr. Grieshaber as dedicated, compassionate, knowledgeable, honest, unbiased, talented and confident. As stated in the nomination, “He makes personal phone calls to patients after hours to make sure they are in a healthy spot mentally, physically, and emotionally. Whether you were a patient that saw him one time or if you have seen him every month for years, he would remember you and ask how you are doing. It’s hard to put into words what kind of an impact that he has had on our lives.”

The Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative gathers nominations each year from its member hospitals to recognize a hospital employee who shows dedication to bettering the health of the community through leadership and dedication beyond the scope of their job descriptions.
