Isaacson Named 2019 Rural Health Ambassador
[Dodgeville] Laura Isaacson, Registered Dietitian and Director of Clinical Nutrition at Upland Hills Health, has been named a 2019 Rural Health Ambassador by the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative, for her leadership in improving the health of our local communities.
Laura has led and contributed to several initiatives directly impacting patients at Upland Hills Health. These initiatives include the Healthy Living program, the Diabetes Self-Management program, and the Second Harvest Wellness Program. She has also written grants to bring Jump with Jill, a rock and roll nutrition program for kids, to our local school districts, and she spearheaded an effort that led to Iowa County being designated as a Wisconsin Healthy Community at the bronze level.
As President of the Wisconsin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Laura is active in advocacy at the state level to promote evidence-based nutrition care and access to such care. Laura also currently serves on the board of directors for Fifth Season Cooperative and previously served on the board of directors for The Healthy Classrooms Foundation and the Montessori Children’s Community School. She and her team have embraced the power of social media to educate our communities, running the Nutrition Made Simple blog and making contributions to the Upland Hills Health YouTube channel on nutrition topics.
The Rural Health Ambassador Award is designated for a person who has gone above the call of duty in promoting their organization, and has made significant contributions to rural healthcare in general. They must routinely demonstrate a positive attitude and demeanor during interactions with patients, visitors, co-workers and other customers, and support and strengthen rural health care within their community. ###
