Maria Leary Awarded UHH Nursing Excellence Award
An important nursing award was recently presented to longtime Upland Hills Health staff member Maria Leary, R.N., B.S.N., C.I.C. Leary, who is the Infection Prevention Coordinator, was the recipient of the Nursing Excellence Award.
The Nursing Excellence Award honors a nurse (LPN, RN) at Upland Hills Health who demonstrate positive communication skills, a dedication to their nursing career and supporting a team environment. Nominations are sent to reviewers outside of the organization to determine a winner.
Leary had a key role in how Upland Hills Health managed through the COVID-19 pandemic. Her experience, critical analysis, compassion and trusted leadership provided guidance for innumerable scenarios, while performing with empathy and kindness for every person involved.
“I consider her a trusted colleague who exemplifies the nursing passion to be excellent in what we do, always put the patient first, and support each person in their own journey of health and wellness,” said Lynn Hebgen, R.N., Director of Nursing.
