Upland Hills Health Breaks Ground on New Mineral Point Clinic

Upland Hill Health Hospital and Clinics is a step closer to a new medical clinic in Mineral Point. A groundbreaking ceremony was held August 30 at 1050 Branger Drive, Mineral Point.

UHH President and CEO Lisa Schnedler said the new clinic was designed with patients in mind.

“The new clinic will offer easy access and parking that is near the entrance. With the fitness center moving in the new building all of our Mineral Point services will be in one convenient location,” according to Schnedler.

Upland Hills Health held public forums in Mineral Point earlier this year to gather community members’ input during the design phase of the clinic. Schnedler said the feedback and many of the suggestions from those meetings were considered and incorporated into the final plans for the clinic.

“The new clinic builds on our commitment to allow our patients to stay in their community for medical care,” according to Lisa Schnedler, President and CEO, Upland Hills Health. “Designed with our patients in mind, these modern facilities will provide better access for our patients now and allow for future growth to support community health, wellness and fitness.”

The new clinic is at the same location as the Upland Hills Health aquatic rehabilitation and therapy services. Upland Hills Health received one of two grants provided by the USDA under the Emergency Rural Health Care grant program to help support building a new clinic.

“These grants are making a direct and positive contribution to the health and quality of life of people living and working in rural communities,” said USDA Rural Development Wisconsin State Director Julie Lassa. “Not only do these investments mean that rural residents won’t have to drive as far and take as much time off of work to travel to get necessary medical care; it also means that we are modernizing critical health care facilities that are important economic drivers and employers in many of our rural areas.”

Providers and staff in the current clinic are looking forward to seeing patients in a modern facility.

“While we have loved having our clinic located in the heart of Mineral Point’s beautiful historic district, it has been a challenge to meet our patients’ needs for accessibility,” according to Sarah Fox, MD, who practices out of the Mineral Point Clinic. “The new clinic is designed with wellness in mind and will ensure a smooth flow as patients transition through their appointments. We are very excited to carry on the legacy of the Mineral Point Medical Center while transitioning to an updated space that allows us to continue to serve the needs of our growing community.”

As a UHH Board member and resident of Mineral Point, David Engels is pleased to see the high level of medical services that Upland Hills Health brings to Mineral Point.

“Our goal is to deliver great health care locally and bring the specialists here instead of making people travel to appointments,” Engels said. “I truly see this facility as a regional health care destination providing skilled, advanced health care services close to home.”

S & D, based in Spring Green, is the contractor for the project. It is anticipated the clinic will open in Fall, 2024.
